AI for Diabetic Retinopathy AI for Good AI for Health Global Challenges

Our proposal and solution on using “AI for Early Detection of Diabetic Retinopathy to Prevent Vision Loss” was presented to the ITU-WHO Focus Group on AI for Health at their second meeting held in New York city from Nov 14-16, 2018.  We are pleased to announce that It was accepted as one of the first eight use cases by the ITU / WHO in using Artificial Intelligence for solving health challenges.

The eight new use cases accepted by the ITU/WHO address health challenges ranging from breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease to autism, vision loss, skin lesions, and venomous snakebites. You can view their announcement and press release about the use cases here.

The ITU-WHO initiative is working towards standardization and performance benchmarking of ‘AI for Health’ applications from around the world.   This workshop was the second in a series of workshops linked to the ITU Focus Group on Artificial Intelligence for Health (FG-AI4H). The aim of these workshops was to provide a platform for researchers, engineers, practitioners, entrepreneurs and policy makers to discuss standardization opportunities for the assessment of AI for health solutions and to identify use cases and data required for the evaluation and validation with open benchmarks.

Our founder, Mr. Arun Shroff was also an invited speaker at the workshop and part of a panel of experts on Nov 14, 2018.  The presentation and talk may be viewed above or on the ITU/WHO website as part of Session 2.
